THE ORIGINAL
Legend has it that the name “Private Joe Snuffy” and the character itself were inspired by WWII veteran SSG Maynard Harrison “Snuffy” Smith—a B-17 ball turret gunner known for his rebellious streak and frequent run-ins with trouble, particularly during his military service.
THE LEGEND
Despite his reputation, SSG Smith became the first enlisted member of the USAAF to receive the Medal of Honor for his extraordinary heroism during a bombing mission over Germany. In a twist that only added to his legend, he was presented the medal while serving punishment on KP duty.
THE COMPANY
As an Army Grunt who also had a knack for getting in trouble with my NCOs and officers, I can't think of a better name for a military brand that celebrates our country's military heritage, the crazy people who served, and the legacy of the OGs who got us here.
